:music:

Here in this severance we’re calmly incomplete
We’ve always tried so hard to keep emotion from our sleeves
No small change in a paper cup
No hint of deity to promise Eden

Who’ll shout our names in marble halls for everyone to hear?
While hollow masses plot the course of grace so insincere
Seems everyday they print the names of those who tried to make a change
Who’s next in line to try?

The deaf fall back to making claims to immortality
By congregating, playing games designed to drag your days away
Is there anyone real, is there anyone real who feels right to be here
In this concrete lie?

While the sea is so cold
We leave the toys on the shelf
Try to kiss through the snow
And as the callous grow, the mild remain in here alone

If the cuts should fall from the air would the lines still hang somehow?
Could the walls regain in pride after all has dared to transpire?
Here in this severance were calmly incomplete

While the sea is so cold
We leave the toys on the shelf
Try to kiss through the snow

And as the callous grow, they bow down in droves
To the loudest throne
And we hide as the uniformed clone

In My Dreams I Can See You by `DpressedSoul

Thank you very much, ^arctoa,
for featuring "In My Dreams I Can See You"
as a Daily Deviation. I'm honoured!

I would also like to thank *figueline for letting me use her wonderful texture.

And thank you so much everybody, for your precious support, and for not forgetting about me.
Some of you might have noticed that I haven't been much around lately.
Actually, I'm still a bit off track, but I'm trying to catch up with everything.

:peace:

Previous DD features:

Hello everybody,

I'm sorry for my absence, but nowadays life keeps me busier than usual. It's a weird mix of a heavy workload, staff reduction, and illness of workmates, and it seems as if it won't get better soon. So I do not only have less free time, I'm also rather exhausted after every single day at work.

I'm longing to watch and comment your work though, and I'll try to catch up with everything until the next weekend. I just want you to know that I'm still here.

Until then, I'll leave you with some very fine pieces of classical music. Enjoy!

Fun fact: Brian Eno (!) is playing trying to play the clarinet on these recordings. :giggle:

Hope you're all doing well. Take care, everybody, and have a wonderful week!

Fractured

Sat Feb 9, 2013, 1:44 PM

Knew I would fall if I tried
So I held back for a while

You pushed me so hard, I had to go
I tried to be strong, then I failed

I would like to say this
Just in case you didn't know

Well your soul is fractured
I know what it's like as well

I have sold my soul
I traded it for hollow gold

Failed Serenade

Thu Feb 7, 2013, 11:29 AM

With quiet disdain
It was only fear that I feared
Thought I was someone else for you to use

Envy burned away
As I fell immune to all of your tears
I guess you were still all mine
Mine to lose

Our minds aflame
As I seared in the wicked summer glow
I surrendered all to you

This failed serenade
Will tell you all you needed to know
Maybe your words were feigned
But mine were true

We All Fall Down Once In A While

Mon Jan 28, 2013, 6:32 AM

No one can find me here in my soul
Kicking and screaming
Out of control

Calm myself down now
Nobody knows
No one can find me here in my soul

Hooked on your problems
Do I know why?
And if you come my way again
Would I lend a hand?
Would I understand?

No one can find me here in my soul
Kicking and screaming
Out of control

Calm myself down
Nobody knows
No one can find me here in my soul

Solitude was never, never seen as loneliness
And things need, they need time
And time leads to other things
And playing roles which are limited
By the poor fund of knowledge
In this sick, sick world

We all fall down once in a while
Escaping the law of the unexplained pains

Belated happy New Year, everybody!
Hope everything's fine.
:peace:

I've been a little bit off track lately,
you know, life can be so time-consuming.
;)

So one of my New Year's Resolutions will be
trying to catch up with everything you have created in the meantime
and trying not to miss any of the roughly 2.500 messages in my inbox.

Also, breaking out of the loops...like every year!

In the meantime my image "Windows in the Sky"

has been chosen as one of the best of 2012
by *KizukiTamura and his watchers.

I'm honoured to see my work in very fine company.

Please head over to his journal feature and show some devious love!

Leaving Eden

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 5, 2012, 7:33 AM

Put the thorn in my side, the coins on my eyes
I'm not awake, I'm leaving Eden

And all her frozen charms lie cold in my arms
Panic went away and left me reeling

It's warm outside but the weather fails to hide
The stinging loss inside

For in the back of my mind I always thought I'd find my way to paradise
On I'd walk to paradise

But grace and lies locked the door from the other side
And now there's not much else there

Grace and lies in all
How long can you hide, how long can you hide?

The cost of innocence is the loss of innocence
Some may pass away, but some die screaming

And when it came to my time, oh it took me by surprise
Was it my mistake, or am I born for giving in?

But grace and lies locked the door from the other side
And now there's not much else there

Grace and lies in all
How long can you hide, how long can you hide?

`Changes

Mon Nov 19, 2012, 10:48 AM
Wow, this year has gone so fast...
:omg:

My term as a Community Volunteer is over, I have to take off my "^" and have to say goodbye to the Community Relations team. I have to admit that it was difficult at times to keep up with everything here on deviantART besides my full-time job, but I enjoyed working with the team and I particularly enjoyed the great support from the community in terms of DD suggestions, supportive comments and feedback on journal features and articles during the PE Week back in August.

Thank you very much for your precious support,
and special thanks to ^Kaz-D and $Moonbeam13!
:iconbowplz:

I don't know when a new Community Volunteer for abstract and surreal photography will be announced. Make sure to add #communityrelations to your watchlist to get the latest updates of the Community Relations team.

Until then please send your Daily Deviation suggestions to ^Kaz-D or ^3wyl
who are looking after general photography.

Have you ever thought of giving back to the community?

And before I get way too sentimental, I'll leave you with a summary of the monthly DD roundups and an overview of the PE week for abstract and surreal.

DD ROUNDUPS

PE WEEK

And here's my last DD feature for abstract and surreal:

It's not just a feature, it's meant as a statement. Or as Rothko himself said:

There are a few other Community Volunteers leaving the team today,
please head over to #communityrelations and show them some love!

Keep on rocking the community!

Celebrating Diversity #8

Mon Oct 29, 2012, 12:01 PM
Most of you know me for my rather dark surreal and abstract art features, often accompanied with melancholic and depressive music. But this doesn't mean that I'm not paying attention to other genres of art here on deviantART. That is why I like the idea of "Celebrating Diversity". It's an "out of the comfort zone" feature, so to speak.

Enjoy!

Suggest the best of the best!

Time flies. My term as your Community Volunteer for Photography/Abstract & Surreal is going to end on November 16. That is why I'd like to call on you to send me your DD suggestions now 'cause I have not more than 12 slots open for DD features anymore.

What I want to see? The best of the best. You may also suggest your own work if you think that it's outstanding and deserves much more recognition.

Have you ever thought about volunteering?

I'm also very anxious that whoever will take my place after November 16 will continue featuring awesome, unsual, outstanding and controversial artwork to show the community the whole spectrum of abstract and surreal photography.

Do you want to give back to the community? Do you want to work in an awesome team of art enthusiasts promoting artwork and educating the community through projects like #projecteducate or #ArtHistoryProject?

Not particularly interested in looking after abstract and surreal photography? Check out the official #communityrelations blog and see which other positions are currently open:

1. Miscellaneous vs Other
Over the past few months, we've been diligently working on cleaning up the category tree of old and unused categories.  While most of this will go unnoticed by the community, what you will notice is the change from "Miscellaneous" galleries to "Other".  The reason for this change is simple.  The concept of Miscellaneous leads one to believe that it's a junk drawer category for everything under the sun when the intention was to be an "Other" category for deviations that don't fit well in other sub-categories of the tree.  We're also working on u

Spirit Day 2012

Thu Oct 18, 2012, 10:02 AM
In early October 2010, Canadian teenager Brittany McMillan promulgated the observance of a new commemoration called Spirit Day, the first observance of which took place on October 20, 2010, in which people wear the color purple to show support for LGBT young people who are victims of bullying. Since then it has turned into a global event against bullying, promoted by GLAAD.

This year's Spirit Day is on October 19, and this is what you can do to show your support:

:bulletpurple: Turn your deviantID or your avatar purple!
:bulletpurple: Create Spirit Day artwork and submit it to our Spirit Day Gallery
Submit artwork that encourages love, acceptance, tolerance, empathy, and purple!
:bulletpurple: Show love and support to your fellow deviants!
